What a team still needs around Codex

OpenAI's Codex App is a capable command center for one developer. It runs multiple Codex agents with parallel threads, worktrees, diff review, skills, and automations, and it does that well, so orchestration is not where a team runs into trouble.

Business and Enterprise workspaces add centralized access and policy controls, shared environments, team configuration, plugins, apps, and connectors. Those capabilities make organizational context reachable, but they do not turn the specs, trackers, diagrams, and mockups around the code into one real-time visual project workspace. Codex histories also remain private to each user unless a specific resource is explicitly shared.

Nimbalyst puts those artifacts into one shared workspace. Documents, mockups, diagrams, and trackers are multiplayer, so teammates edit them together, and each person's local Codex reads and writes the same shared files. The Nimbalyst agent sessions themselves stay private to the teammate running them.

Frequently asked questions

Does Codex work for teams?
Yes. Codex supports Business and Enterprise organizations with centralized access, policy controls, shared environments, team configuration, plugins, apps, and local or cloud tasks. Private histories are not automatically visible to teammates. Nimbalyst complements Codex with multiplayer documents, mockups, diagrams, and trackers that each teammate's private local sessions can read and write.
How is this different from a ChatGPT Team or Business plan?
They solve different problems and work together. An OpenAI plan provides Codex access plus organizational billing, policies, plugins, apps, environments, and cloud-task controls. Nimbalyst adds a real-time visual workspace where specs, trackers, mockups, and diagrams are edited together. Bring your existing ChatGPT subscription or API key.
The Codex App already runs parallel agents. Why add Nimbalyst?
Orchestration is the part Codex already does well, with parallel threads, worktrees, and diff review. Nimbalyst is aimed at the layer around it: the shared documents, mockups, diagrams, and trackers your teammates and their agents work from, plus Claude Code running beside Codex for teams that use both.
Does Nimbalyst move our Codex sessions into the cloud?
No. Codex sessions launched through Nimbalyst run on each teammate's machine against that person's checkout, with no Nimbalyst sandbox-compute meter. Codex also offers separate cloud tasks through OpenAI. In either case, the agent sends prompts and code context needed for inference to OpenAI or the model provider your team configured.
Can teammates see each other's agent sessions?
Not in Nimbalyst. Its session board is private to the person running it. Teammates share documents, mockups, diagrams, and trackers instead. A ChatGPT Business or Enterprise workspace likewise does not automatically expose one member's private history to other members; sharing is explicit where OpenAI provides it.
What exactly is shared with the team?
Only what you promote. Documents, mockups, and diagrams you choose to share become multiplayer, and shared trackers hold your bugs, tasks, plans, and decisions. Agent sessions and other local files remain private. Synced content is end-to-end encrypted, and Nimbalyst is SOC 2 Type 2 certified.
Can some of us use Codex and others use Claude Code?
Yes. Nimbalyst runs both side by side, with OpenCode and Copilot available as alpha providers, so teammates are not forced onto one agent to share a workspace.
