Move Your Local Wiki to Teams

Upgrade a local Nimbalyst Wiki to a shared team wiki in one step from Claude Code or Codex: sign in, create or choose a team, move every page with its drawings, types, and images, and invite your teammates.

A local wiki is a folder of files on your machine. Moving it to Nimbalyst Teams puts the same pages on the Nimbalyst server, where your teammates and their agents edit them live and anyone you invite reads them in a browser. Your agent does the whole move, and your local files stay where they are.

Nimbalyst Teams is in beta. Organizations are free during beta and will require a paid Nimbalyst Teams subscription after launch.

Before you start

  • The Nimbalyst Wiki plugin in Claude Code or Codex, version 0.8.0 or later. See Start in Your Coding Agent.
  • A local wiki in the repository. If there is none, the same steps create an empty team wiki.
  • A git origin remote is helpful but not required. It is how teammates' clones find the same team pages.

Move it from your coding agent

In Claude Code, run:

/nimbalyst-wiki:team

In Codex, ask "move this wiki to Nimbalyst Teams." Your agent walks you through each step and asks before it changes anything:

  1. Add the team add-on and sign in. The team wiki's server, nimbalyst-team, comes in a small add-on plugin, nimbalyst-wiki-team. If it is not installed, your agent offers to install it, then asks you to restart: in Claude Code, /exit and run claude --continue to come back to the same conversation; in Codex, start a new session. Then authenticate the server: in Claude Code run /mcp, choose nimbalyst-team, and pick Authenticate; in Codex run codex mcp login nimbalyst-team. A browser page opens where you sign in or create your Nimbalyst account.
  2. Pick the team. If the repository already belongs to a team project, your agent uses it. Otherwise it offers to connect an existing project, create a new project in a team you administer, or create a new team, named after your git remote's owner unless you choose another name.
  3. Approve the copy. Your agent asks for one more approval with the same account, so the wiki server on your machine can copy pages straight from your files to Nimbalyst. Page text never passes through the conversation.
  4. Review the dry run. Your agent shows how many pages, editor pages, typed pages, types, and linked files will move, into which project, and anything it has to skip with the reason. Choose Move now or Not now.
  5. Move. Pages go up in batches, and links between pages are rewritten to point at their team pages. Your agent reports how many pages moved.
  6. Open it. The team wiki opens in your browser at console.nimbalyst.com.
  7. Invite your team. Invite people by email or create an invite link. See Invite Your Team.

What moves

  • Plain pages and their child pages, with their place in the tree.
  • Editor pages: Excalidraw drawings, mind maps, spreadsheets, data models, mockups, and canvases.
  • Typed pages with their field values, and the types that define them.
  • Images and other files a page links to.
  • Links between pages, rewritten to the team copies.

Anything the move can't bring is listed in the dry run with its reason and stays in your local wiki.

After the move

  • Your local files stay. They are marked as moved, and the local Home page gets a line at the top pointing to the team wiki. From then on, agents in this repository use the team wiki.
  • Commit the project pin. The move writes .nimbalyst/wiki.json with the team and project. Commit it so teammates' agents reach the same pages.
  • Run it again safely. If some pages fail, running the move again resumes: pages already moved are updated, not duplicated, and a page someone has changed in the team wiki since is left alone.
  • Keep a private wiki if you want one. Start a new local wiki for personal notes. When a repository has both, the plugin asks once per session which one to use.

Move it from the Nimbalyst app

In the app, open Wiki mode (Cmd+D) and use Move to Team... on a plain Local page to share it with the plain pages under it, or Copy to Wiki... on a file in your project. Typed pages, types, and editor pages can't move from Local to Team in the app yet; move the whole wiki from Claude Code or Codex instead, or have your agent rebuild them in the Team section. See Use the Nimbalyst App with Your Team.
